Paw Patch at Newhall Park
1351 Newhall Pkwy, Concord, CA, US, 94521
This beautiful park is one to be considered when finding a new dog park. There are two fenced zones, one for big dogs and the other for small dogs. Both are well maintained, and always tidy, full grass. Some places have gone down to dirt but it's better than some parks in the city.
The small dog area tends to have a few benches but only one is in the dog park section. The dog area for the water is very large with lots of buckets. The park is surrounded by a lot of walking area to take your dog on walks before or after play time. People are super friendly around here and the regulars are very kind. Driving to the park is a bit of a walk but it’s a beautiful walk. While walking, you can see plenty of ponds and ducks around.
This dog park is open to maintenance daily except on Wednesdays. They are also closed for extra maintenance during certain periods of the year, and may take up to 2-3 months or longer depending on the weather. It is always recommended that you call the paw patch line and an automated voicemail before you go. They'll let you know whether or not the paw patch is available. Even if it's a good day out, they could be closed the day before because of heavy rain.
At around 6:30 pm every Friday people bring food, snacks, drinks and wine. This is a perfect time to bring your dog to the Paw Patch because you can guarantee that there will be a variety of dogs in both the small and large dog areas.
For other times of the year, the Park is used for sporting events. This could mean the parking lots are full, or the dog park is surrounded by huge crowds or activities (such as cross country training and competitions for high school).
So, if you are looking for a place for dogs, you can enjoy a leashed stroll through this park or let your pet run in the fenced, off-leash dog park area.
Before going here, you can take note a few reminders from the rules in this park. You can check it out here: http://www.ci.concord.ca.us/DocumentCenter/View/1140/Newhall-Park-Paw-Patch-Rules-PDF
