Walnut Creek Elementary School District is a traditional TK-8 district in central Bay Area. The Walnut Creek neighborhood is a unique blend of industrial, suburban, and open space areas. At six elementary schools and one middle school, the district is responsible for meeting the educational needs of about 3,600 students. In 2015 the sixth elementary school, a K-8 school, was opened. Students in gradesTK-5 primarily study in self-contained classes, while students in grades 6-8 are enrolled in both core and elective courses.

The District provides all students with a high quality education.. All people, including those with disabilities, have the right to receive a free and adequate public education (FAPE). In compliance with the Federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the district provides special education training and services. Disabled students are put within the least restrictive setting. Parents who have concerns regarding the success of their child should consult with the teacher of their child.

The department of Walnut Creek School District Facilities and Technology Services operates together on a number of district programs.  The agencies work closely with the Department of Education Services to promote teaching and learning, in addition to preparing and overseeing the development of new schools and modernizing existing schools.

The employees of Facilities Planning and Construction Services are working tirelessly to define and create learning opportunities for students, community, and faculty at WCSD throughout the 21st century.
