For the past four years I have participated in the Pleasant Hill Relay For Life, a weekend fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  Taking place in over 6,000 towns with 4 million participants each year, Relay For Life has become the largest not-for-profit activity in the world! Because of the generosity of donations, ACS research has made significant advances in the fight against cancer, and I am thrilled to be even a small part of the effort to kick cancer.
What started out as an invitation from a friend has turned into a meaningful, fun, and life-transforming experience for my family. My husband loves walking around the track bonding with friends, both new and old. My kids love the late night movies and collecting beads for their lanyards every time they complete a ¼-mile lap.  The gift Relay has given me is the passion it has instilled in our children. The fight against cancer is so meaningful to them that they compete with each other to walk a marathon every year! Â
Can you picture yourself walking around a track, surrounded by family and friends, encouraging each other to take another lap?  If you want to celebrate those who’ve fought cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against a disease that has taken too much from too many, I’d be honored if you’d be a part of our team. Â
Too many people I know have been impacted by cancer.  A Relay For Life event is my opportunity to inspire hope by raising funds and raising awareness to help those facing the disease. I hope you and your friends and family will join me to Celebrate! Remember! And Fight Back! on June 7-8, 2014.
