Pleasant Hill Aquatic Park

Pleasant Hill Aquatic Park is located in Pleasant Hill Park at 147 Gregory Lane, and has the following amenities:  25-yard pool with two diving boards (3.5-10.5 feet deep), 20-yard shallow water (3.5-4 feet deep) training pool, sprayground, changing rooms with showers and restrooms and two picnic areas each with a BBQ and two tables (available for reservation).

PH Aquatic Park is open from April to October and is home to our swimming lessons, water aerobics, lifeguard training, public swimming and water events. Our swimming teams also use the facility. Pleasant Hill Aquatic Park is open outside scheduled program times to private pool parties. Picnic rentals are available during public swimming hours.

Pool facility

Its location and parking is easy (the shaded playground next door is a plus), but typically there's no one manning the front so basically you walk in, go through either locker-rooms, and then find a seat along the shaded edges around the pool and then wait until your lesson time. It's a bit weird initially, but once you get into a routine it's really rather efficient. The locker-rooms are very minimal and the showers work okay and the temperature can't be controlled (it is lukewarm). The bathroom is functional. Key tip: Please always make your little one use the bathroom BEFORE their lesson.

When your child's lesson time starts, someone in the lifeguard area will announce it and this is really the only moment to talk to anyone. Your child needs to be dressed (they have spare goggles if needed) and ready to jump in right at the lesson time… and there's really no orientation time at all.

Instructors

Here's why people keep coming back here; you’ll encounter different instructors and every one of them has been able to balance both nurturing your kid’s swimming experience with pushing him/ her to develop new skills. It's a bit annoying that you can't pick a certain instructor so you lose continuity. Also in a typical 8 lesson set 1-2 lessons will be with a substitute...but again, all the instructors are all pretty good.  Also, it helps the child socially deal with new teachers and styles so it's both a plus and negative.

PH Education Center Pool

The Ed Center Pool, also known as PHEC, is located at 1 Santa Barbara Road, on the Pleasant Hill Middle School campus. The pool has 10 lanes (length 25 yards) and is open all year round. The Ed Center Pool is home to the Pleasant Hill Dolfins and a lap swimming system for the area. When PH Aquatic Park is closed for winter, water aerobics meet at PHEC. This facility is not available for rental.
