Italina Kirknis of Italina Image & Branding had us laughing and embracing from the get-go at Laptop Lounge’s Learn Linkedin at Lunch event yesterday. Italina shared some terrific, easily implementable tips with us that reinforced the importance of building community through Linkedin to grow and nurture our businesses.
Do you view Linkedin simply as a professional platform to post your resume and endorse your skillset, or do you take advantage of the ample opportunities to connect and grow your professional network?
If you’re uncertain how you’re showing up on Linkedin, Italina gives us three easy take-away’s that you can put to use today that are sure to get you noticed:
- Treat your profile like a Storefront: Connect with everyone who views your profile. The fact that they stopped by shows they want to learn more about you. Embrace the opportunity to connect by sending them a brief message thanking them for stopping by, and share a bit about yourself. Stay authentic – It keeps you real and makes you approachable.
- Stay Active: It’s what keeps you visible!  Italina warns us, it’s no use staying active if your profile is a mess – Take this opportunity to sign in today and make sure your profile picture and resume are current, that your wording is succinct and clear, and that you’re posting up-to-date material that best serves your audience.
- Establish yourself as an expert: Did you know you can join up to 50 groups on Linkedin? Take advantage of this! Join groups of people in your industry, for sure, and more importantly, join the groups where your target market is. By staying active in these groups and posting frequently, you will assert yourself as the knowledgeable go-to person in your field.
So, what are YOU doing to connect with others on Linkedin? We want to know – Share your experiences in the comments below! If you liked this article, share it with your network. I’m sure they want to know Italina’s secret to Linkedin too!
