Its name comes from the first name of one of the original land-grant owners, Rancho Arroyo de Las Nueces y Bolbones, Arroyo de las Nueces (Walnut Creek), as well as for the local group of indigenous Americans (Bolbones). The Arroyo de las Nueces was named for the evidence of the native species of a walnut tree, the California Walnut. Pleasant Hill Park is a nicely sized community park that has, among other things a gigantic lawn that can be used for baseball and softball games, if the presence of a scoreboard is any indication, and even soccer or other impromptu sports requiring little more than a large, open, rectangular field. There are also well-maintained basketball courts, picnic areas, gardens, and playgrounds. On the other side of the pool, there is even more to the park! There are two playgrounds that are really fun and that kids will surely enjoy. Plus, there is more green space where you can set up a picnic or host a children's birthday party.
