The Paw Patch Dog Park is a public dog park in Concord, California, located at Newhall Community Park. Aside from the dog park, there are several wetlands, a lake, playgrounds, bocce courts, sports fields and picnic areas in the 126 acre community park. The dog park can be located by the pond by the bocce courts, just a walk away from the car park. The park also has toilets accessible to the public within walking distance which is very convenient if you end up spending the day in this beautiful park.
The securely fenced Paw Patch Dog Park at Newhall Community Park is the perfect location for canine socialization and off-leash exercise, as it is very popular with neighborhood dog owners. Many days of the week, there are dogs in the park which is perfect if you want your pooch to still have someone to play with. Weekends are busy though, and the dog park gets crowded so keep that in mind if a large number of dogs overwhelm your canine buddy. At the Newhall Community Park, the Paw Patch Dog Park has a well-thought-out layout consisting of two separate spaces for dogs to run around and explore without leash. There is a small dog area for those under 35 pounds and another one for the big hounds.
This is also a plus for elderly and shy dogs. Both areas provide ample space for dogs to stretch their legs and receive their daily exercise dose. Thanks to the well-lit dog park, dog owners can bring their dogs in during the evenings as well as during the day for some off-leash fun. The surface of the park is grassy, and great oak trees flourish along the edges of the off-leash areas.
Since there are not many trees elsewhere, however, there is not much shade here. Although the owners have benches to rest on, they are not screened so bear that in mind before deciding to visit the park on a hot or rainy day. There are drinking fountains on the other side, and plenty of bowls of water for dogs to enjoy. Free waste bag dispensers are also available, so if you visit to help keep this park clean and poop-free please make sure to clean up after your dog. Including the off-leash zones, there are plenty of trails winding through the park that owners can take along their canine companions as long as they are leashed.
